The Final Eight will be held in mid-April following a series of tournament games starting mid-March. “This year’s tournament will be bigger and better than ever,” stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman, ” because the ABA is bigger and better than ever with nearly 120 teams competing for the ABA Championship. Modeled after the single elimination NCAA Tournament , we anticipate 32-64 of our teams will be eligible.”
As in previous seasons, the #1 team in the ABA Power Rankings will get an automatic bye; the host team (Austin Bats) will be guaranteed “play-in game” the evening prior to the start of the Final Eight. The Jacksonville Giants are the defending ABA Champions and will be ranked #1 team during the tournament.
