Communications
  • Expand the team’s day-to-day media coverage in the Central Coast market and establish credibility with all local media
  • Serve as primary contact for day-to-day media inquiries
  • Build and maintain relationships with reporters who cover the team
  • Develop content for the team’s various media outlets (team site, league site, Facebook, Twitter (AND OTHER NEW MEDIA), game day rosters, media guide, etc.) with assistance from staff/interns
  • Work with staff on developing and pitching stories to local media, e.g., special interest stories on players, players with local ties, the team’s hopes for the community, etc
  • Oversee press operations on game days
  • Create and manage media contact lists
  • Primary point of contact for reporter email and phone inquiries
  • Inform local media about coverage opportunities: practice, pre-game stories, game storylines, community relations, etc.
  • Update all roster information including player bios, stats, etc.
  • Draft post-game release
  • *If the VP of communications is to travel, serve as primary media representative on road trips
Game Day Operations
  • Oversee entire game day to ensure all areas are executed
  • Meet with sponsors/vendors/media relations to determine details of upcoming game night and ensure their requests are met
  • Coordinate all game day entertainment including pre-game shows, half-time shows, and cheerleading squads. (Includes contract negotiations and entertainment research.
  • Direct and supervise the activities of the security staff, music coordinator, game day announcer, official statistician, volunteers, and promotions support staff
  • Hire game day staff
  • Schedule and supervise volunteer crew at all home games
  • Responsible for team locker room preparation
  • Serve as liaison for each team
  • Coordinate travel itineraries for away games
  • Work with the Marketing/Promotions team to coordinate and execute other events
Marketing Promotions
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate a detailed annual marketing plan for the firm
  • Direct firm’s overall marketing, strategic planning programs, and corporate communications
  • Conduct direct promotions that combine advertising with purchase incentives to increase sales
  • Conduct market research studies and analyze their findings
  • Facilitate client development through marketing of team
  • Create new and exciting promotions for each game
  • Work with Game Day Operations to generate innovative ideas on how to change and enhance already existing events, as well as, coordination of new events
  • Investigate and coordinate community promotional events that are not part of game day activities
  • Work with Public Relations to seek promotional opportunities with local radio stations, newspapers, television and other media
Merchandise Operations
  • Oversee conceptualization, design, construction, selling and distribution of merchandise
  • Application of extensive product knowledge, planning, and inventory control
  • Understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer
  • Receive shipments and verify all invoices
  • Maintains and checks records of sales and stock
  • Prices, plans, and arranges merchandise for display
  • Manage product information and selection for online marketing campaigns and game day sales
  • Determines customer demand for merchandise
  • Manage entire product line life cycle by increasing the profitability of existing products and developing new products for the team
  • Responds to inquiries and complaints regarding merchandise
Public Relations
  • Evaluate advertising and promotional programs for compatibility with public relations efforts
  • Observe social and economic trends that might ultimately affect the firm and make recommendations to enhance the firm’s image based on those trends
  • Assist company executives in drafting speeches, arranging interviews, and maintaining other forms of public contact
  • Oversee company archives and respond to information requests
  • Handle special events, introduction of new merchandise, or other activities the firm supports in order to gain public attention through the press without advertising directly
  • Create good will for team by writing or selecting favorable publicity material and releasing it through various communications media
  • Communicate with public on behalf of company
Ticket / Sales Operations
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate a detailed annual sales plan for the firm
  • Assign sales goals and establish training programs for sales representatives on ways to improve their sales performance
  • Maintain and produce accurate reports regarding sales and activities
  • Analyze sales statistics to determine sales potential
  • Solicit new season and group ticket business through phone and internet sales
  • Contact local businesses and individuals via phone, in-person appointments and networking events to sell season tickets, mini-plans, and corporate and group ticket plans
  • Provide consistent and superior customer service and build rapport with customers in all dealings with existing and prospective customers
  • Establish policies and procedures in performing all sales account creations, invoicing, payment, ticket-printing and distribution functions.
